Susan Albright is the managing editor of MinnPost.com, an online news publication. Previously she was editor of the editorial pages at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Under Susan’s decade-long leadership, the Star Tribune’s editorial staff earned numerous national awards for innovative enterprise projects. “Learning to Die,” which examined end-of-life decisions, won both the 1998 national Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for editorials and the Association of Opinion Editors’ Best Series Award. Other recent Star Tribune editorial projects have won the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Walker Stone Award, the EdPress Award, the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, the Frank Premack Award for Public Affairs Journalism and numerous Minnesota SPJ Page One Awards.

Susan served as president of the 600-member National Conference of Editorial Writers (NCEW) in 1999. During her presidency she proposed NCEW publication of a book of best practices for editorial writers. She subsequently wrote a chapter on management for the book, “Beyond Argument, a Handbook for Editorial Writers,” which was published by NCEW and the Scripps Howard Foundation. With NCEW, Susan also served as an NCEW Foundation trustee, led a task force that surveyed U.S. editorial-page readership, and helped found the Foundation’s annual Minority Writers Seminar.

Susan has frequently discussed public affairs on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and public television’s “NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.”

From 1985 to 1993, Susan was editorial page editor of the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, Arizona. Before that, she held a number of editing positions at the Arizona Daily Star, the Louisville Times and the Syracuse Herald-Journal. She holds a master’s degree in Public Communications from Syracuse University.
