The Board of Directors of the World Press Institute (WPI) has decided to postpone the start of the next WPI fellowship program in the United States because of the uncertainties and difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Typically, the annual WPI fellowship program begins in late August, but given current and unknown future conditions resulting from the pandemic, the Board of Directors has concluded that a meaningful and successful program cannot begin in August 2020.
The Board of Directors is committed to holding its next annual fellowship program, which will be its 57th consecutive program, as soon as practical once the pandemic is brought under control. The Board will meet again in late 2020 to assess the situation and decide when to commence WPI’s next fellowship program.
