Rich cultural diversity which makes America a unique place to live in..

Rich in ethnic and cultural diversity is what makes America a country replete with varied races and religions and traditional values. As we travelled to different States, one of the most interesting experiences is to see the fusion of cultures that is indeed unique and exceptional.

The overwhelming number of Hispanic or Latino origin, African American, Asian and American Indians is making America a land of opportunities where no group can call itself more American than another. Every community seems to be exercising and thriving in an environment which is more tolerant to other beliefs, school of thoughts and religious obligations.

The cultural diversity has encouraged the kind of environment where people tend to understand each other to rise above their cultural insensitivity, bias, or prejudice.

Every State I travelled through, I came across people who were proactive listeners, ready to accept and welcome people and ideas that were different from their own.

In the United States, people are immersed in a culture that is unlike their own and they may experience culture shock and become disoriented when they come into contact with a fundamentally different culture. We usually use our own culture as the standard to judge other cultures; however, passing judgment could reach a level where people begin to discriminate against others.

Besides, this cultural diversity helps us recognize and respect “ways of being” that are not necessarily our own, so that as we interact with others we can build bridges to trust, respect, and understanding across cultures. Furthermore, this diversity makes our country a more interesting place to live, as people from diverse cultures contribute language skills, new ways of thinking, new knowledge, and different experiences.

The culturally diverse cities like New York, Miami, San Francisco and Chicago offer more energy and creativity that exist with a wide mix of people. This diversity also manifests the struggle of nationalities which incorporated them into American society.

This is interesting to see that the immersion of different communities into American culture does not come at a cost of losing their own identities rather this immersion makes them standout in different manners. Tons of restaurants and shops beyond usual chains and festival and cultural events in every State give us the sense as we are constantly travelling and enjoying the particular cuisine of various communities on one ticket.

Each culture provides its own unique contribution to the understanding of America which thrives on diversity. And this learning about other cultures helps us understand different perspectives within the world in which we live, and helps dispel negative stereotypes and personal biases about different groups.

Imagine a place where diversity is recognized and respected; various cultural ideas are acknowledged and valued; contributions from all groups are encouraged; people are empowered to achieve their full potential; and differences are celebrated.
